this post brought to you by the power of coffee

Have I mentioned that I really have developed a serious caffeine addiction? I blame the whole me-starting-to-like-coffee thing.

But. BUT! My paper is DONE! And it's SPW (even though it's supposed to rain all weekend, sigh).

I suddenly realized that I could watch Naruto episodes on YouTube. And while really, watching fansubs on YouTube is just as bad as downloading them, it doesn't feel as wrong. So, I gave into temptation. I just finished episode 7, which had a scene that exemplifies why I find shonen action series so entertaining and yet ridiculous.

[bad guy] You have Sharingan, don't you!

[good guy] Yup

[naruto] What's Sharingan?

[me] Even though you two are staring at each other, about to try to kill one another, you're just going to stop and lecture for five minutes, aren't you?

[good guy] Well, you see...

[me] I knew it

[good guy] blah blah see through illusions blah blah

[bad guy] and that's not all! blah blah you can copy anyone's techniques by seeing it once blah blah

[good guy] cuz I'm just that badass.

[me] cool

[bad guy] Now I kill you!

[good guy] Let's fight!

[me] finally...

(5 minutes later)

[good guy] (copies and uses bad guy's technique to pwn said bad guy)

[me] yay!

[bad guy] You copied my technique??? I am SO UTTERLY SHOCKED that this could happen!

[me] ...

[bad guy] HOW DID THIS HAPPEN! I DON'T UNDERSTAND!

[me] This is why I can't take shonen series seriously...

Okay, that was random...but come on, if you're going to have the characters have long, rambling exposition-dialogue, at least have them REMEMBER IT five minutes later! Not that I don't love this series, because I already do. I just...cannot take it seriously.

Shikamaru is great . . . I like guys who PRETEND to be jerks, but are really very sweet (unlike guys are actually jerks). That particular ep made me cry the first time I saw it, and I was getting teary yesterday. It's neat how emotional that series actually is.

>_> I can resist him *lol* He's just such an emo kid...
