I tell you what, mathematically I'm havin' it, I wanna live on science alone

The good:

• My last call today was this *really* nice woman who I could help out and did, and she was really grateful and friendly...awesome end of the work week.

•I had one 'escalation' today (someone asking to talk to a manager) but I was definitely in the right and was actually being *too* generous to the guy, so I don't feel bad about it (we're supposed to prevent escalations if at all possible). I also had one customer who came on the line crying hysterically because she couldn't get her rebate form to print, but I managed to get her calmed down and helped her with her problem, so she was happy (and apologetic) when we were finished talking.

•Mom bought me a window fan! Our house is definitely not air-tight enough for air conditioning, but when the fan is on at night it keeps my room nice and cool...plus the white noise is very comforting.

•The cockroaches are gone--Mom transferred them to her classroom at MCI. She just needs to stop in every week or so to feed them. Apparently they like dog food a lot, who knew?

The bad:

•My car's engine has...died, basically. I knew it was having some problems, and I was planning on taking it to get it fixed tomorrow anyway...but now I have to spend $60 to get it towed to the repair place because it quit on me on the way home from work. Luckily, I have a one-year warranty on the engine, so I can get it fixed for free. I'm gonna have to be pushy--this is the fourth time in five months I've brought it in with engine problems, and it just doesn't get fixed. My ultimatum is...fix it tomorrow, so it *stays* fixed, or give me a new car that works properly. I *need* a car for Monday.

•I was online talking to K last night pretty late (which was fun) but my wrists started hurting, since I type so much during the day as well (the job description says that reps type at least 80% of the time). And now they're hurting again--and I'm all paranoid about carpal tunnel, since the very first thing we did in training was watch a video about repetitive motion injuries. I know it's a little early to be worrying about it (I've only been on the phones and typing a lot for two weeks) but still. >_<

•My internet is doing that weird random kicking me off every ten minutes thing again. I hate dialup....it kicked me off twice while writing this entry, actually.

So, a mixed day. Right now it feels like it was more bad than good, but that's partly because I'm so tired...and I can't sleep in tomorrow because of my car...but the repair place closes at noon, so I'll come home and take a nap or something. Should I go on AIM? Well, maybe for a few minutes...

Later, all!

Aww, I hope your wrists feel better! I know how that can be.

Ahh, cars. Last time my dealer didn't fix the problem, my appointment that DID fix the problem was free (except for the $1000 transmission...*meep*), which was nice. You should complain that they're not doing what you're paying them for.

I used to get sore from typing, until I finally got myself set up correctly ergonomically with everything at the right angle and height. Now I can type all day and all night with no problems! The book I used as a reference is Zap How Your Computer Can Hurt You and What You Can Do About It (http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=271745) which is excellent and I highly recommend it.

I do very strongly urge you to attack these ergonomic issues and fix them! Repetitive stress injuries such as tendinitis are serious and can lead to lifelong disability. There are a lot of things where we can be like, "I'm young and healthy and things don't need to be perfect, I can just tough my way through them". This is not one of them! This is a big deal.

I hope this helps,
