So, Eclipse. I can't decide whether I actually thought it was a decent movie, or if I was just impressed at how huge an improvement over the book it is.
cleolinda, as usual, has said pretty much everything that we're all thinking, so go just read that if you want to know what I thought about the movie.
But in all seriousness, guys, it's pretty entertaining. I know I've ranted - extensively - about this series, but I promise, there are actual fight scenes and everything.
Meanwhile, Avatar comes out this weekend...it currently has an 8% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Roger Ebert started his review with the following words:
"The Last Airbender" is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here. It puts a nail in the coffin of low-rent 3D, but it will need a lot more coffins than that.
He gave it half a star. Combine that with the racefail thing and...maybe I won't be going to see that one after all. (Edit: Here's probably my favorite review of the movie so far. Trust me, read it.)
Tomorrow's Friday - why do four-day weeks always feel more than a day shorter than five-day weeks? Weird. Anyway, off to finish my laundry and then to bed.

Man, that Avatar review is awesome. The reviews are only solidifiying my reluctance to support the movie after the casting debacle, into a rock of "Never-ever going near this, how could they screw it up so bad, qq."

Yeah, that's pretty much my reaction to the whole Last Airbender thing at this point too...I was holding out hope that the movie itself would be okay despite the 'racebending', but apparently no.
(P.S. I swear I will write up a description of how cosplay went; I just keep forgetting!)

Yeah, me too kind of, but then again, I find myself strangely pleased that it apparently sucks. XD
(There's... not really a rush, unless you feel like you'll forget! ^^)

I kind of want to see The Last Airbender still, but I think it's a Star Wars Christmas Special kind of thing. The source material is amazing, a further adaptation can't be half as good, but it kind of has to be seen for the train wreck that it is. I think Ian and I are still going to go see it tonight if we don't head Portland-bound.
Have some more italics.

The opening of the review was genuinely funny, though.
You giggled at The Happening. You snorted at The Village. But now, for the first time ever, former indie auteur M. Night Shyamalan has set out to make a gonzo comedy on purpose, with The Last Airbender.
I just wish it had kept up with the wit!

There was a porn analogy? *totally missed it* I guess I am just weak to hyperbolic humor. :) But yeah, it's not any one review, it's the combination of many, many negative (and even scathing) reviews that has made me so certain that the movie's probably pretty bad.

And maybe I got the io9 review confused with another one. Who knows? I was reading one a while back that was brilliant, and then they started talkin' smut and it totally destroyed the writer's credibility for me. Because I'm like that.

We saw it tonight with Aaron and Yoi, then came home to watch the series a bit and reflect... The Last Airbender wasn't Transformers-bad in my opinion. I mean, it was pretty bad, but I haven't gouged my eyes out yet. It might be worth buying if it one day makes it to the $2 bin.
ANYWAY! Porter? You gonna be there?

Four day weekend?? We should hang out? POKEMANZ? MALL? IDK!

Three day weekend, actually, but that means two four-day weeks in a row. Let's do Pokemon AND the mall! If we can track down another deck, I could teach you Pokemon. And then I can drag you through Sephora. :D
