Um, a lot of the 'plot' involves around Eragon and Saphira fulfilling promises the've made, either in previous books or in this one.

1. Eragon's promise to cure Elva
2. His promise to rescue Katrina
3. His promise to return to Oromis for more training
4. He also promises to support Orik in his bid for Dwarf King
5. Saphira's promise to fix the Isidar Mithrim/Star Sapphire

There are two other promises, but I don't recall them. The promises themselves, yeah, aren't actually that important to the plot. Most of the time you forget that it was a 'promise' until something is completed and Eragon is all 'check it off the list!'

Thanks! I was trying to be fair, because he has improved, but there were still many O.o moments. See, I think CPao is getting to the point where he could, with a good tough editor, write a pretty good book - but sadly he's now 'popular' and probably won't get the rigorous editing he still does need.

Ah yes, Chapter 51...huge dialogue infodumps about sword design and creation. It *was* fun to summarize, though, because the motivation for including all that info was so transparent that I felt justified in totally skipping it.
