Hey, all. It's been a while. Not a whole lot to report? Microdyne goes as it goes. There's a whole complicated thing which has resulted me in switching to customer service. Not because I was doing badly in tech support, but because...well, this customer service contract uses the same people as the tech support contract I am (was) on, but most of the people HATE this customer service contract. So the 'assistant manager' for it is leaving, and I've been tapped to replace her. It means a lot more work, but whatever....it'll keep me busy, which makes the days go by a LOT more quickly and smoothly.

Still stuck on my second Peace Corps essay. Argh!

I did actually write something else, though.

WARNING, SHOJO GEEKINESS AHEAD.

I've been behind, but today I picked up Fruits Basket 17 (actually, I still count as behind since volume 18 is out already). I was a little sad that I already knew the big revelation from this volume....but the moments of absolute adorableness between Kyo and Tohru kind of made up for it. The whapping with the scarf? And the paper flower? I squee-ed. Also, I still love Hanajima. She's probably my favorite character.

But anyway. The last chapter in volume 17 got me thinking again about Shigure's motivations. They are still sort of unclear, yes? And I realized I had a theory. And instead of simply blathering on about this theory, I decided to write a short fanfic explicating it. It was originally going to be a conversation between Shigure and Ayame, where Shigure basically came clean about what he's really after. But even if that was in-character for Shigure (doubtful), I realized about two sentences in that I wouldn't be able to write something like that with any kind of grace. So I went a little understated, while still being sort of painfully obvious.

It's rather terrible, but I am attached to my idea of Shigure's motivation, so I figured I would post it anyway. No actual spoilers, as such, but will make marginally more sense after reading volume 17. Critique is more than welcome, as always.

Plots

But to move the plot the way you wanted, sometimes you had to torture your characters a bit )

I am so lazy. Since K and the F family left, I've...um...watched some anime (finally finished Full Moon o Sagashite, w00t!), did some laundry, worked a little on my current editing/MST3King project (once I have a finished first draft, K, I will post it so you can add or change things)...yep, that's about it. Now I'm inspired to make icons but I don't have any actual *ideas*. Sadness.

Speaking of icons, thought I'd share a recent one I made. I don't often do this, but I'm a little proud of this one *blushes* I found these amazing 'chinese flowers' textures/backgrounds somewhere, from SOMEONE in my resource credits, but I don't remember who it was. Anyway, I had wanted to make an icon with this text ever since I saw Furuba, and I finally felt confident in doing it....thoughts, please?

It's a surprisingly pink icon...hmm. Well, I still like it. (The text is from a Dispatch song, fyi)

Okay, I'm off to either watch more Samurai Champloo or make icons. Decisions, decision...

Later, all!

P.S. Yay to all my friends who graduated today!

Hmm. Well, work has gone pretty well this week--one woman saying she's going to sue Dell (and she'll never win) and a few really stupid people (I had one guy today who couldn't get the difference between a hard drive, a cd-rom, a cd-rom drive, and a usb cable, through his head) but mostly really nice people. My manager gave me my first 'audit' and she thinks I'm doing pretty well, so I'm happy.

K told me last night that Furuba 11 was out. My first reaction was "....?" because it wasn't even supposed to be released until at least the beginning of August. My second reaction, of course, was, "OMG I have to get it!", and I did today on my way home from work. I just finished it, and it's amazing, as usual. I was either laughing hysterically, close to tears, or yelling at one of the characters almost every single page...enough said. I don't think I can write a coherent review, as such (it's be mostly squeeing, and I don't want to give anything away) but I will say I've realized why Akito is such a bastard. I mean, he's a bastard in general, but I've figured out what's going on in his head. Oh, and they give you the reason why everyone listens to Akito--not exactly a full and complete explanation, but it's a start. Really obvious once you think about it...

I also (finally) finished R's birthday present...I'm such a terrible procrastinator although to be fair I *couldn't* finish it for a while there. So, R, what's your home address? I think I had it, but now I've lost it....*sniffle* I'm such a bad friend....

Speaking of friends, huge thank yous to K for Abenobashie (and Chinese Ghibli, lol) and B for the AMVs she sent me (I've seen a couple of them, and I'm so glad to have them on my computer)! I've already paid K back for shipping; B, do you have a Paypal account? If so, lemme know the email address for it and I'll pay you back for the shipping.

Like K, my car is still not fixed. Unlike K, I have no confidence in the guy who's fixing it. Grr...must call him again tomorrow. It's been all week now!

Tomorrow's Friday! This week really has gone by fast, partly because I've been falling asleep before 10 every night. I know, it's so unnatural for me to go to bed early, but I really don't have a choice. Bah 6 AM alarms--and I work from 8 to 4:30 again next week. *sigh*

Maybe I'll go watch a couple more episodes of Abenobashie. It's so good! Ah, Gainax, you never let me down...anyway, later, all!
