WA Dance Party

I am so annoyed with myself when I realize that I can be a failtastic friend. I was thinking about how I miss talking with [livejournal.com profile] lacontessa11 (and reminiscing, since I've got a bit of a Shojo Bat situation on my hands - yes, this is the worst kind of inside joke) and hopped over to her Facebook page, only to realize that I missed her one-year wedding anniversary. Good job, me. So, belatedly, HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSAY, hon! <3 Hope it was wonderful!

In other news, just finished the first season of Dollhouse (thanks, Netflix Instant Queue!) and suddenly feel really bad I stopped watching it on TV and supporting it, because omg. Just - omg. The last two episodes killed me. Why is the second season not out on DVD yet? Maybe it's still on Hulu...I'll need to check. But tomorrow; if it is and I find it tonight, I'll never get any sleep.

Speaking of - bedtime now. Sorry for the choppy post; this is apparently how I write very late at night. Later, all!

I have done absolutely nothing on my to-do list today except my laundry. Ah well. I did read, play some Pokemon SoulSilver (of course), and put on two separate makeup looks even though I never actually left the house - that's something, right?

Speaking of that, have I mentioned that I am seriously in lust with the Sugarpill cosmetics line? Especially the pressed eyeshadow collection 'Addicted to Pretty'? Because I am. I really, really should not spend any money on makeup right at the moment, but the colors are ridiculously bright and gorgeous and I want them. Especially Poison Plum, Love+, Buttercupcake, and Afterparty (wouldn't say no to Dollipop or Tako either).

In other news, we saw 'How to Train Your Dragon' last night and it was awesome. Anyone putting $5 on Vikings being the new 'big thing'? Also, the main character's dragon was adorable beyond words.

Script Frenzy starts Thursday. Oh dear. I've been considering doing a comedic murder mystery (sort of like Murder by Death, except I didn't actually like Murder By Death, because apparently I am a heathen) set at a thinly fictionalized PCM. But I'm not sure how it would work out to do a story full of characters so firmly based on real people (who are my friends, to boot). I am afraid I'd feel horrible if I portrayed any of them as less than awesome (because they are awesome) and would also be paralyzed over 'would X *really* do that?' questions.

I need to think more about this - but tomorrow, as it's already past my bedtime. Night!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] bubbleteagirl02!

I am sort of in this happy yet weirdly anxious mood where I feel so grateful for my friends and their awesomeness, and am concerned that I will never be as good a friend to them as they are to me.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE. You rock and I <3 you all.

Still on a bit of an adrenaline high after dancing (it's been so long! and it was so much fun! definitely needs to happen again) but I think it's bedtime. Later, all!

Getting that apple-scented candle at Hannaford was such a good idea; my whole room is now engulfed in autumn-scented deliciousness.

It's been a satisfying weekend. Saturday involved tons of fun and a whole lot of hanging out with friends - of course, those two things are practically synonymous. Today was quieter, but I'm pleased with what I accomplished.

The big item on today's to-do list was finishing up a costume - the one I had gotten about 85% completed before PCM but then gave up on. I wanted to wear it to Weekend Anime's cosplay potluck tomorrow, so I finished it up, then washed and dried it to get the wrinkles out. The last part was perhaps not entirely a good idea. I am not an amazing seamstress, and now the dress is starting to fray and has a few iffy seams. Still, it's wearable for tomorrow, and afterwards I can work on it or rip it apart and use it for a pattern for a new costume or something.

I spent much of the rest of the day writing in my (paper) journal at Panera Bread. (Yes, I was writing in my diary in a cafe. I was even listening to angsty indie rock on my iPod at the same time. I occasionally enjoy reveling in cliche.) I wrote something like 12 pages - granted, they're short pages, but that's still the most I've ever written in my journal at one time. I was musing on a certain ongoing situation, about which I am very much of two minds. I was hoping writing about it would give me some clarity, but I am just as indecisive about it as I was before. On the other hand, I'm a lot more calm about the whole thing, so it wasn't wasted effort at least.

It's almost midnight and I need to get some sleep so I can hit the ground running at work tomorrow - I'm still so behind, eep. So it's bedtime for me.

This is my first summer completely detached from the American school schedule (I was working last summer, but also living with Mom so I was aware of school breaks, when 'summer' started and ended, etc.) and it's very odd. Things seem to be going both faster and slower than usual; the week flies by but then I had to remind myself today that it's not yet August.

The BBQQ this weekend was wonderful. Awesome people+tons of delicious food+crazy card and board games+hilariously srs bsns whiffle ball+swimming+hanging out=good times.

I think I know all the words to all the songs on the album 'The Fame' by Lady Gaga. I am slightly embarrassed by this.

I keep meaning to type up a description of the work drama in my office, but more keeps happening. Luckily I am (mostly) out of it. In positive work news, my boss is actually in-state all the week, plus we may be getting a new mid-level manager for our office so I don't have to wait three weeks to get my boss's signature on a receipt to get it paid. Also, I *think* we are officially moving into our new office by Sept. 1. It'll be crazy, but what else is new? And choosing carpet and paint colors is fun. ^_^

Back in P-town after a long weekend in PA for the wedding of my good friend [livejournal.com profile] lacontessa11. It went AMAZINGLY well, and she's now on her honeymoon with her new husband. I'm incredibly happy for her.

Another thing that made the weekend wonderful was that I got to spend some time with the Tremendous Trio of [livejournal.com profile] piano1815, [livejournal.com profile] bubbleteagirl02, and Matt, who has so far avoided our attempts to make him get an LJ. As always, it was a blast. We told stories and caught up with each other, we laughed late into the night, we went shopping and took tons of pictures and came up with at least three new inside jokes over the course of the weekend.

Now, back to my quieter life in P-town. Ugh, need to unpack...I actually started out strongly (and got my laundry in the washer, which was key) but lost steam halfway through. However, everything is on my bed, so I need to finish putting stuff away in order to get to sleep tonight - this is good motivation.

I reached 25,000 words yesterday, which is the minimum I needed for the halfway point. \o/

Goal for today: writing another 5,000 words to reach 30,000. It's a write-in day, so it's doable. Onward!

I'm too tired to write very much, but I just wanted to say that I have the BEST FRIENDS IN THE WORLD. I just had...the best birthday party ever. (Special props go to M and B who were the instigators/organizers). Absolutely amazing.

Bed. Later, all!

3. You WILL update your lj with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I was looking through my 'memorable entries' and found a meme that I felt like reviving. Sooo.....

Reply with your ~name~ (Or username) and I'll tell you something I adore about you.

Afterwards, copy and paste this into your own journal.
(except you don't really have to do that part)

Just randomly, I went onto facebook (for the first time in FOREVER) and poked all of my friends who are actually my friends, not just 'facebok friends'. Poke War!!!!!

Oh, it is way too late for me to be up--I'm waking up in six hours and will have to deal with ten hours of cranky customers.

What's everyone up to for Thanksgiving? Did I mention that my sister is going with her boyfriend (yep, she has a boyfriend) to Florida instead of coming home? Yeah.....

Okay, bedtime. Later, all!

P.S. Everyone should read When Spring Comes, [livejournal.com profile] lacontessa11's awesome Naruto fanfic. You don't have to know anything about Naruto to get it, trust me (I've never seen a single episode and I'm Kris's beta!).

The subject quote is from K, in case you were wondering. It's a long story.

So, either the woman who K talked to on the phone was lying or the woman we spoke to at the hotel was lazy, because they wouldn't let up check in early. But it was okay--we just got in line for registration a little earlier than we expected. K got glomped by a random sketchy guy while we were in line for the dealers room and they were having some 'light issues' (aka all of the lights in the dealers room randomly shut off about two minutes after they started letting people in so we had to leave while they fixed it) but we did eventually get to buy things. Yay dealer's room! After lunch and checking in we stopped by the first AMV showing but left fairly quickly as we were unimpressed and wanted to go to the 'make your own plushie panel'. I made Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh and K made Shido from Getbackers (hers was ADORABLE). We took a short break for reading (me) and paper-editing (K) in our room, then headed to the Bleach showing. Next was the fan parodies but K and I skipped out to welcome our freshmen and grand-freshmen. There was much hugging and talking, and eventually sleeping.

Saturday was cosplay day! It took me soooo long to get into my Hinoto costume but it did look pretty good. Thanks K for helping me so much with the wig! Everyone else looked amazing, and although I was surprised that more people didn't recognize us, it was still fun. K and I went to an AMAZING panel called 'Downloading, Fansubbing, The Industry, and You'. I may talk about it more later but right now suffice it to say it was great and I so want the moderator to come to PortConMaine if we can get him. Next was 'Anime 101' with almost everyone which is always a good time. After a quick lunch K and I attempted to recreate the reading-and-paper-editing but ended up taking naps. Dinner with E's parents was followed by watching some of 'Psychic Academy' which is funny although the animation is pretty bad. I wouldn't buy it but it was entertaining. S and I tried the dance but spent more of our time distinguishing the 3 groups (the young innocents, the ravers, and the people having sex on the dance floor) than actually dancing.

Today we went to the Anime Club Summit, which was pretty ambitiously named considering that approximately 8 people came (4 of those being from Colgate) but was still interesting. We said goodbye to everyone else and made one last dealers room run, then headed out.

And the inevitable list:Stuff List )

Now we're back at K's apartment, where we'll spend one last night being geeky before heading back to the 'real world'. *sigh* Well, it was fun while it lasted. Nekocon was fun

That's all I have to write about....later, all!
