Mar. 13th, 2005 12:08 amYour news roundup from the DFC:
•Mom is telling me that I should take more risks and go out and have fun. Of course, if I actually started taking risks and going out, she'd complain about it...or perhaps I'm being ungenerous.
•My sister's friend Laura bought Dance Dance Revolution. They started playing at 7 PM last night, and kept playing continuously (except for sleep and food) until 11:30 tonight. They are obsessed and now say that every time they close their eyes, they see the little arrows. I tried DDR myself; it's fun but challenging!
•Dad continues to be a complete jerk, although I think E's getting over it somewhat. Now filling out this financial aid form would be a violation of his civil liberties (?) and E is just a puppet for Mom, who is going to use the financial aid form to steal all his money (??). Oh, and the reason that E doesn't care that she's not the valedictorian is because she doesn't believe in God. Yeah, whatever. He's definitely not filling out the form, which is just as well because E can get an exemption and not have to go through this all four years of college.
• In honor of Dad being a bigger and bigger asshole (please forgive the language), I bring you a quote from the Dad archives, as it were. Some of you (i.e. L and R) may remember me posting at length about a visit to Dad during winter break of my sophomore year. If anyone else wants to read about it, it's here. Anyway, Dad had recently gotten on a kick of using large words, often without exactly knowing how they *should* be used. He was also 'going out' with a 25-year-old who may or may not have existed (it's a long story). So, he used this particular sentence twice to describe this woman.
She eloquently and sagaciously, if sometimes vehemently, expresses the paradigms of her epistemology.
Perhaps it's bad of me, but that phrase makes me positively gleeful. I mean, it's ridiculous! I love it!
Anyway, that's the news, such as it is. Later, all!
