I had almost finished my cosplay by last night, but there was a ton of 'finishing' work to do that would have basically kept me up all night. So I faced the choice of either finishing the costume or sleeping. I chose sleep (which is almost surprising, since it's me) and this was DEFINITELY the right choice. I would be dead on my feet right now if I hadn't gotten a solid 6 hours.
This morning was a frantic rush to get my stuff organized and packed, then I threw everything in the car and headed to Weekend Anime to help pack up the PCM stuff. It was a bit of a pain because we had to drag tons of boxes from the basement, but it went fairly quickly and the U-Haul Julie rented meant we didn't have to fool around with tons of staffers' cars, which was awesome. We finished before 11 AM and headed over to the Wyndham to unpack and set up.
I spent the remaining time before the con opened between reg-desk setup, manga room setup, and bag stuffing. Bag stuffing got off to a late start so it went until the last minute. Reg desk setup went very smoothly. The manga/karaoke room looks great and OMG we have SO MUCH manga! I honestly didn't quite get it when Julie kept going 'no, you have enough, TRUST me'. There's tons. I'm so excited for it! (We're using one room for manga and karaoke and switching off times, so the manga room doesn't officially open until tomorrow.)
Since Thursday is pre-reg only, the registration line was not too bad, although the first hour was pretty busy. Still, we kept people moving fairly efficiently.
After my shift at registration, I got some dinner and wandered the con, mostly taking candid photos. I borrowed our digital camera from work - my coworkers insisted that I needed to take pictures and 'we borrow it all the time!' so I'm having fun with it. I like candid shots much more than posed shots, although they are more difficult.
I actually had come up to my room to change into a dress for the PortProm, the semi-formal dance. (I'm wearing my bridesmaid's dress from
lacontessa11's wedding. ^_^) But when I came up to change I realized I left my shoes and jewelry in my car, so I decided to do a quick LJ update instead. Now I'm off to my car to grab my missing bag. Later, all!
