Quick note that I don't want to get lost in the story--I will be running a Vampire: The Masquerade game next semester. Oh yes. It's an RPG with the old (aka good) White Wolf system. Comment or email me if you are at all interested and I will get some details to y'all.
And now, the update on the last week.
Thursday I had gone to bed early on Wednesday night so I rushed around Thursday morning packing, but managed to get out of the house on time. Uneventful trip down to Portland where I picked up K. Lunch, checking into the hotel, reading manga and talking, etc until 4 PM when we headed to Weekend Anime to move things to the hotel. The staff as a whole set up, listened to Julie bitch out Jesse, made plans to steal signs, etc. K and I ended up watching all three of the movies she had downloaded that night--it was just too funny. Perhaps that was silly as we ended up going to bed at 3:30 AM, but whatever....
Friday More setup, starting at 8 AM. K looked awesome in her Rukia cosplay, I played it casual in the PCM 2006 tee shirt and jeans. The registration line started at around 9:30, I think? Final staff meeting at 10 and a rush to get everything ready for opening! I sold pocky, ramune, and tee shirts until 4 when I went to K's and my panel (also Kirk's, the president of the UMaine anime club, who had been signed up to co run the panel even though K and I weren't told. It worked out well; he had an interesting perspective). The panel went well, and we filled up two hours quite nicely ^.^ After dealer's room, dinner and more hanging out, it was off to Extreme Geek with S and M who had just arrived. Extreme Geek was very, very extreme, then we headed up the room and talked and slept (in that order).
Saturday More selling stuff, from 9 until 3. Late lunch at the mall across the road and...napping? Possibly also some manga reading? I feel like I did something else in between here but I don't remember what. Quick dinner with K as the preppy princess in J Crew and a tiara, S as a bondage queen in pleather with many buckles, and me being very boho in a light frilly skirt and a sequined tank top--and M, in jeans and a tee shirt. The dance was a lot of fun, and I have reconfirmed my desire to go clubbing this fall. More talking and bed.
Sunday Last day of the con. Sold more stuff (but not too much as almost everything was gone), said goodbye to S and M, hung out with K and came up with the beginnings of a devious plot for my Vampire: The Masquerade game. Hell yes I am running one...drove K to the airport, getting lost along the way, but made it back for breakdown and staff pie. Driving back home, my car had a serious malfunction (later verdict: timing belt broke) and stopped working. Two hours south of my house. With my mom gone for the weekend and E gone for the night. With no money. I kinda panicked. I called for a tow truck (gotta love 411) and broke down. Luckily I have the BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD, K, who calmed me down several times and made sure I wasn't going to stay in the street. She even browbeat a guy (over the phone) into giving me a hotel room even though you're technically supposed to be 21 to get one.
Monday I called home early and got E to come and pick me up. Hung around all day feeling mopey (I had requested the day off from work in advance anyway, expecting to have to rest up after PCM).
Tuesday Got to work at 8, left by 10:30. It was absolutely dead. I think they shut the whole call center down around noon. Found the old Vampire site so people can at least get an idea of how it works. Also found the hilarious 'antediluvian meetings' that I remembered reading previously. 'REAL men don't NEED dominate!' *snickers* Okay, maybe three people will get that, but trust me, it's funny.
Today Today was boring. But, tomorrow is Thursday, and Friday I can go and pick up my car from where it was being repaired (near where I broke down, as the towing fees for a two hour drive are not to be thought of).
Right now I am sleepy, full of chicken and pasta salad, and debating going to bed or watching 'A Wind Named Amnesia'. If anyone was wondering ^.^ Later, all!

Date: 2006-07-06 07:41 am (UTC)I can just imagine Kris on security ^_^ and you hustling ramune onto unsuspecting children and then laughing when they cannot open the bottle HAHA evil
Loves ya a lot...If Matt and Shannon play, I'll play too...and I am SURE they'll both play.
(I sound like a 4th grader)
Games will obviously be played in the house, and I would safely say that about half of the kids in the house will play, too...definitely at least half...yeah...

Date: 2006-07-07 03:09 am (UTC)I would love to have you in the game--quick question, have you ever RPed before? It may be better if you haven't, that way you don't have to unlearn the d20 system before you learn the d10 system.
Less than two months, yay!

Date: 2006-07-06 10:58 am (UTC)I forgot about the antediluvian meetings . . . I NEED to re-read those today when I'm slacking. And my Vamp books are in the mail, so you should get them by the end of next week (it was really pretty reasonable, considering the price has insurance for $100 in it).
I pwn at intimidating hotel employees ^_^ Seriously dude, you need to BEND THE RULES when people need help, geez. Even I know that, and I love rules.

Date: 2006-07-07 12:58 am (UTC)Yay Vamp books! I did the best with the website but for some reason they have this completely bizarre d6-based system described online--very strange.
You rock, definitely. I feel like I should even have pushed the issue more with him but I was so drained by that point, you know?

Date: 2006-07-07 01:06 am (UTC)o.O d6? Vamp? Sounds like it was modified for the GURPS world or something. That's all about the d6; I just bought one of those Warhammer blocks of 36d6 because I'm rolling something like 20d6 for damage. I sent you the book on vampire politics too, because it's interesting. I haven't read it all the way through, but it's just our thing.
You could have pulled the "helpless little girl with no place to sleep" angle, but he didn't sound very compassionate. I was all like, "Yeah, I'm 23, I'm OFFERING YOU MONEY, so take it! And by the way, don't make people sleep on the sidewalk."
Oh, since you told me there was just that one little change to WSC 12, I'm posting it now ^_^
