and making history has never been so easy

It's been a crazy couple of weeks back, but I'm almost starting to get into a routine--hence I break my LJ silence to make my traditional Beginning of the Semester Report, starting with my classes.
History of U.S. Relations, 1917-Present I had a class previously with Prof Rotter, but I had forgotten what an engaging teacher he can be. He designs his lectures to be very narrative, if that makes sense--each lecture is a complete story. Also, he is great at sparking discussions. The themes of this class are not totally new to me, but I think I'm going to enjoy it.
Reading Chinese Newspapers Crespi is starting us off slowly translating-wise, which is odd for him but no one is complaining. It feels almost like a repeat of Readings in Social Issues in terms of subject matter, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Very reading based which is great for me; I'm much stronger at reading Chinese than speaking or listening to it, sadly.
China through Literature and Film Another Crespi class, and the reading/viewing list looks like a lot of fun. The theme of the course is 'creativity in chaos', which I think is a fair representation of modern Chinese literature. I feel bad for anyone in the class who hasn't studied modern Chinese history...luckily the class is mostly Chinese/Asian Studies majors and minors.
Chinese Economy We're starting the class with trade and investment, which makes me feel smart since we discussed Chinese trade and investment quite a bit in Int'l Econ last semester, but can get a bit boring. I'm looking forward to some of the other issues that are less familiar to me, such as immigration and banking. The professor is very knowledgable but she has a hard time starting discussions--she keeps asking really obvious questions and we just all stare at her, either thinking 'is this a trick question?' or 'are you seriously asking a question that stupid?'.
So class prognosis: looking good. Must think of paper topics for Lit & Film and Chinese Economy....
So what other stuff am I doing this semester?
WRCU I have my own radio show! Just one hour of music, 1-2 PM Eastern Time on Wednesdays, of me playing angsty music. No, really, it's the theme of my show. I'm really glad I got a show time during the day so it won't conflict with other activities.
Activities Chair for Student Musical Theatre Again is not going to be a huge time commitment, but I do have some ideas for activities. Must do more work on this, actually. I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about getting more people involved in musical theater SOMEHOW, especially since our musical this semester is Songs for a New World, which has a cast of four.
Vice president of Anime Society I want this semester to be big--and it will be, if I can get it all planned. Advertising, joint events, fun activities...yeah. This is really going to be as time-consuming as I want it to be.
Stage manager of Nutcracker *falls over* Auditions are tonight. Really, it's not the dancing part that concerns me, it's the technical aspect. Must get costumers....either way, though, it's going to be crazy.
Now, I'm off to get something to eat since I missed lunch and study some Chinese for our quiz tomorrow before Nutcracker auditions. Later, all!
