So, graduation weekend...we made the trip down to 'gate one last time so that I could march and so on.
Highlights:
Seeing everyone again was great. It was funny because apparently a lot of people didn't know that I would be coming back for the ceremony, so I got a lot of "AMA! When did you get here?!?" Heh.
Torchlight was fun yet slightly terrifying. For those on my F-list who don't know, on of my college's traditions is that the night before the ceremony, the seniors put on their graduation gowns and walk down the hill on campus with lit torches, surround the lake, and sing the school song. Consider: a very high percentage of these people are drunk. With flame. Hence the slight terror. There were many attempts to set the trees on fire; luckily they all failed. Sadly,
deliriumdriver's sweater proved to be less flame-retardent. Blame the trashed sorority girls behind her.
Graduation outside in the rain was less than totally pleasant, but hey, we had ponchos. And at least we didn't have snow like two years ago.
Our commencement speaker (Lesley Stahl) making a toothpaste/dentist joke during her speech sort of floored me. Really? Did it never cross her mind that it might not be the most original joke?
Overall I'm really glad I went, and I had a great time. Mostly it was wonderful to see everyone again. On the down side, I now miss everyone even more than usual. *sigh*
