•My computer is fixed. Yay!

•Since I can now use my computer, I can use the wireless network this house has. After dealing with dialup for so long, that's a pretty major YAY!

•I really like my work and coworkers so far (although my 'formal training' actually starts this Monday).

•There's a new Mercedes Lackey 'Elemental Masters' book out. HOW did I not know this? Oh well, I know now.k

•I've been doing pretty much nothing but work this past week. LJ braintrust, any thoughts on inexpensive ways to get to know a city, by oneself, on a Saturday night?

Not on a Saturday night :/ I generally wander around aimlessly during the day, but I don't think that's a good idea by yourself at night. You could go to a concert? Not tonight specifically, but I know the Cruxshadows are playing Portland in the next couple months. Is there a cafe or bar within a few blocks? You could create a "hang-out" for yourself and go there a lot. (sorry, I'm not much help . . . I like to hibernate with a book or DVD)

There's a new Five Hundred Kingdoms book, too. I'm going to get it from the library, since the second one was pretty mediocre.
