I'm sorry, I really am (especially for those on my f-list who haven't read and don't care about Twilight). But every time I think it's as bad as it can get, IT GETS WORSE.

Highlight quote from that link (this is Stephenie Meyer herself, mind you): "And stalking doesn't scare me. I've never stalked anyone (yet) but I think I would be AWESOME at it."

There's really nothing I can add to that.

There's this great interview where Smeyer talks about how she and Robert Pattison argued about how to depict Edward; she wanted Edward to be the perfect guy and RPattz was all "he's a sparkly stalker, wtf?" And she concludes by saying that the way he played it was exactly what she wanted in the end. I.E. RPattz's creepy-stalker behavior = SMeyer's ideal guy.

It's really revealing.

I know, he's hilarious! And I feel bad for him, since screaming fangirls are after him all the time. I loved that quote of his from Comic Con about how the sound of the fangirls screaming was 'like what you hear at the gates of hell'.

(OMG, find the YouTube video of his appearance at that mall in Chicago - but turn your sound down first. Ten minutes and you can't hear a single thing he says because every time the microphone approaches his mouth, the Twihards crank up the screaming a notch.)

Because ha ha, stalking is all lulz. Let's just laugh about it. Good Lord, does Stephenie Meyer have ANY sense of social responsibility or propriety? She appears to be stuck at age fourteen, and unmindful of the fact that countless teenage girls will actually take her seriously when she says things like that.

No joke. If she had even put in SOMEWHERE that she's just joking and of course in real life stalking is bad - then I would be fine with it. But she's just all LOL STALKING IS AWESOME.

This woman really is rather crazy.

In other Twilight news, the female actors of the movie were apparently at a local Hot Topic and the scene was nothing less than insanity. The girls waiting for the actors were and I quote, 'crying' over them, even though they were not exactly as they would have pictured them.

This made the Washington Post Style section. This is insane.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. It's even worse when Robert Pattison (who plays Edward) shows up; his first scheduled appearance in San Francisco had to be cancelled after the crowd went all mob-like and people were getting trampled and injured (one girl had her arm broken, another was so squished that she couldn't breathe, etc.)

'Twilight' is sort of like the new Beanie Babies. There's no reason for it, but it's HUGE.
