who loves the sun?
Oct. 14th, 2007 01:49 pmBack at home, which is very relaxing. Tomorrow I have to go into B-town to renew my driver's license, but right now I am simply hanging out and trying to convince myself to do some work. That's why I'm online, braving the dialup, actually--I have to download an article from Blackboard to write out a 500 word essay for China through Lit and Film. It's a cool idea for an essay, actually--the article is on 'Art and Literature in a Socialist Country' and was a sort of directive from the CCP's Central Committee in 1953. We have to read the article, then pretending to be one of the authors we have read so far this semester, write a self-criticism of our work. So yeah, really neat assignment but Prof. Crespi didn't talk about it at ALL so I'm not entirely clear what he's looking for or really what a self-criticism should look like.....
Anyway, much relaxing-type fun at home, just watching movies, helping around the house, reading (I reread The Gods Drink Whiskey), and generally catching up. Also seeing my sister--it's been since June! She is planning to go back to school in January, and now wants to study forest management ecology and botany.
To be honest, even though the drive is a huge pain, I'm glad I came home for Fall Break. Just getting away from 'Gate (as much as I love it) for a few days is making me feel so much better about everything I have to do this semester. I've also been sleeping a LOT, and it helps that my mattress at home is a lot more comfortable than the one is my dorm room (yay waterbed!).
Must go--I really shouldn't be online in the middle of the day anyway, as it ties up the phone lines. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
