Ugh...I haven't updated in so long. Partly that's because I've been going to bed pretty early (I have to get up at 6 for work) and I'm not really supposed to go online before 9:30 or so (Mom's not home so I'm sneaking in this little bit of internet time). It's also partly because after 8 hours of staring at a computer screen, typing, and solving people's problems, I feel very apathetic when it comes to *more* typing. But, I'm definitely feeling a burst of friend-sickness (like homesickness, but for you guys) so I figured I'd let y'all know what's been going on.

Mom got back from the AP Biology workshop on Friday--she had a *great* time. The people were apparently awesome and the whole experience was a lot of fun. Plus, they kept giving the participants free stuff (equipment that was old for the university, but useful for high school teachers). Mom's entire jeep is full of books and equipment, plus she has a pair of Mongolian hissing cockroaches (disgusting, in my personal opinion, but whatever) who have already had babies. They even gave her a free set of textbooks for her entire AP class (that's over $800 worth of textbooks)! *Then* she got a message from Wal-mart that she had won their raffle--a complete set of camping equipment! That's particularly good since Mom has been talking a lot about how she wants to go camping. Now she had a complete kit! And I do mean *complete*; it was put together by a veteran camper on the Wal-mart staff, apparently.

Work has been going pretty well. Last week I was in the 'transition queue', which is where people go right after they graduate from training. You get special help there, and some special training, and then you take a test at the end of the week. I got 100% on my test (which isn't *that* impressive, it's a 20-question multiple choice quiz) so I've officially graduated and am now a regular employee of Microdyne. Yay! I've already noticed that it's changing me a bit--I've always been *fairly* polite, but now I'm uber-polite, am incapable of talking to someone without using 'sir' or 'ma'am' and and really! really! cheery! about everything! That's because we got lectured constantly about, and I quote, "A smile can be heard on the other end of the line".

The customers are...back and forth, as they always are. I had some very nice customers today, one incredibly friendly and funny woman who I unfortunately couldn't help, and one guy who called me stupid and hung up on me because I couldn't understand his problem unless he, you know, explained it. And the thing is, I realized later what his issue was (after looking at his information for a few more minutes without him yelling at me) and I could have helped him...*sigh* Ah well.

E had a party for one of her friends last night, so I had a hard time getting to sleep and was grumpy today. I didn't take it out on the customers, but every time I put someone on hold, I groaned, *then* researched his/her order.

Oh, and K--I just realized that since you ordered you computer through GM, it's a Faculty/Student/Staff account, which Microdyne *does* handle! You still probably wouldn't get me if you called into customer care, because there are *many* reps in our department, but you'd be reaching my department...

I'm currently working on rereading the first five HP books, so I can buy the sixth with a clear conscience. Of course, this does not prevent me from reading whatever spoilers R posts, because I'm silly like that...don't be upset, R! Think of the darkfic possibilities!! Pride and Prejudice isn't gone, just *much* more angsty. *whispers* Walls sequel...Walls sequel...you must write it...

So that's the news from the DFC. And now I'm going to go fight my inclination to take a nap. I may be on AIM later tonight....later, all!

I got Trillian to install and work, so now you HAVE to be online tonight *wink*

Customers annoy me greatly, hence my refusal to have anything to do with them. I get a few "clients" at a time as a lawyer, and that's fine with me. Ugh. I think my ego is just too large for retail or service.

Because cockroachs are *very* similar to the fossils of ancient trilobites that you find in shale, and this illustrates important biological principles...or something like that, I still think it's unnecessary for us to have them in our house, but whatever.

I'll be online! Just not too late.

There is NEVER a reason to have a cockroach in the house. If I EVER see one in this apartment, there's going to be some problems. They're creepy, vile things, Mongolian or otherwise *shudder*

So you read my spoilers and you know why I was all like, GAAAAAH NOOOOOO!! and not just for the shipping problems it causes?

And not so much Walls sequel as whole new take on Walls, if I can pull off the proper amount of angst, because OMG the angst. I'm writing it...
